Notes: The Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill is open to all families with a pediatric patient being treated at an area hospital or a hospital-affiliated clinic. Families of patients older than 18 may only be referred if they are being managed as patients by Pediatrics or Pediatric Surgery services. A home-cooked meal provided every evening and breakfast on the weekends. This house has a living room, a children's playroom, library, family TV room and Teen Room complete with video games (Van service to UNC Hospitals is free and runs Monday through Friday.)
Children Policy: Predominately for pediatric patients. Patients, including those 18 years and older, must be accompanied by a responsible adult family member or guardian.

Rate Details: Thanks to the generous support of donors, no family is ever turned away due to inability to contribute. Guest are asked to contribute toward the nightly cost of their room, if they are able to do so. Our regular room rates are $45 for a standard room and $65 for an apartment. Our staff will also help you identify possible sources of funds for assistance with the room fees. Please ask a staff member for more Financial assistance is available. Families must have a permanent home address and must live more than 35 miles from Chapel Hill . No one is ever turned away because they are unable to pay.
Booking Instructions: Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House for the first time must have a referral from a staff member or medical provider at the hospital. Initial referrals usually come to us from a social worker, nurse or case manager. Please be aware that a request for a room does not guarantee availability. Every family must call after 12 pm on the day they wish to arrive to be sure that they have a room.
