General Information
- Notes: The VA Fisher House is a "home away from home" for families and patients receiving medical care within MEDVAMC. This facility is available free of charge to families of Veterans being treated for long-term illnesses. MEDVAMC is the first VA to have three Fisher Houses. They each feature a common, fully stocked kitchen, spacious dining room, inviting living room, a library, a family room, and laundry facilities. Fisher House I has 21 guest suites with private baths, and Fisher House II and II have 20 each, bringing the total of families we can assist to 61. All rooms are equipped with a TV.

- Rate Details: For VA patients, only if going through training to take Veteran home… or if Veteran is in last stages of life. For TMC patients, case by case. If the family can visit or go with patient into the facility, OK. Fisher Houses are set up to assist the family or caregiver of the Veteran or Active Duty Military member who is a patient within the hospital. All room fees for guest families at all Army, Navy, and Air Force Fisher Houses are paid by Fisher House Foundation. Once the patient is released from the hospital, patient and family members/caregivers must move out of Fisher House.
- Booking Instructions: Fisher Houses are given to the military services and Department of Veterans Affairs as a gift, and the commander or director of each medical center where the houses are located are responsible for establishing the eligibility, priorities, and selection criteria. Please communicate directly with a Fisher House manager for the requirements at a specific house .
- Requirement Level: Patient must provide contact information for their doctor and HCF
